The new design for the Rs 100 denomination, part of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series features a lavender colour as the base, with a motif depicting ‘Rani Ki Vav’, which means the queen’s step well. Rani ki vav is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Patan, Gujarat. This will be the fifth new banknote design to be issued by the RBI after the government demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1000 banknotes in November 2016. So far, the central bank has released new designs for banknotes
